These sound wonderful. I might add that with large pieces of strawberry in these you should refrigerate. Fruit, once cooked, will support bacterial growth and cooking is not a sterilization process, it merely reduces bacteria and viruses to a manageable number. I bet blackberries will be really good in these. Now, I'm wondering about trying them with mixed berries....mmmm

This type of oven pancake has been a long time favorite of our family. I use the recipe for "German Apple Pancake" from the "Vegetarian Epicure" (1972 ver.) which uses 3/4 c. milk and 3/4 cup flour to 3 eggs. I recommend using a cast iron skillet with 1 1/2 Tbsp butter or margarine in it and getting it as hot as you can before adding the batter and popping it into a hot oven (450 deg to start). The best results I have ever had were when I made these in a Dutch oven over a campfire. Amazing.

I just reserved this from the library. Thanks for the recommendation. I also reserved Lost Continent. Looking forward to reading both. Wish I'd seen this before hiking on the AT this summer.

just to add info to natalie's post's above, the playground off 23 is the Orange Township Aquatic Center play area and the the water area in Powell is the Powell Splash Pad. I have never been to the water park in Dublin (am planning a trip) but I take my two boy's to the Splash Pad in Powell and love it. It is basically a foam pad with fountains, jets, water guns, over head buckets that spill water and some tubes that have jets that spray out. Next to it is a dry playground that is pretty fun too. It can get crowded but there are picnic tables and shade so it is worth a trip. And we too love Slate Run, I used to go as a kid and forgot about it till this summer, the kids loved it especially because there were lots of baby animals! I have a friend who was just telling me about Creekside and I am eager to take the boys there for some creeking fun, a cool park in Westerville is the Huber Village park of Huber Village Rd. Westerville just redid it this year and it is wonderful, there is a older area, preschooler area and a toddler area. But not lots of shade so bring cover!

I love all of Bill Bryson's stuff - you MUST read the one about his trip across the US - The Lost Continent. Hilarious! His books about travels across Europe and around the UK are fantastic too - people used to stare at me on the subway because I was always giggling!

I tried this recipe too, a couple months ago. I thought the muffin batter would have benefited from some orange juice in there somewhere. But still good!
